They say admitting a problem is the first step toward recovery.
Hi, my name is Laura, and I'm an entrepreneur.
Hopelessly creative.
Stubbornly ambitious.
Occasionally manic.
Always dreaming.
Stubbornly ambitious.

Always dreaming.
I've been through a bit of a blue spell lately, the kind I think we all go through when doggedly pursuing our dreams. The crazy long hours. The endless self-promotion. The financial uncertainty. The fits of self-doubt.
But at the end of the day, I persevere because I can't imagine doing anything else. Because it feeds my mind and my soul. Because I am resolute in my dreams. Because I can't imagine returning to cubicle hell.
But most of all, because I can't imagine doing anything else.
I AM an entrepreneur. Are you? And what are you going to do about it?
I'm right there with ya! Between editing INsite and Georgia Music Magazine, freelancing for over a dozen other mags and trying to get my own blog (theworldatl.blogspot.com) off the ground, I've been stressed to the max. Just wanted you to know that at least one person out there feels your pain. But it beats the hell outta digging ditches, right?
ReplyDeleteGood luck,
Bret
I am all for embracing it. There's something to be said for pursuing the thing that you can't stop thinking about. You can't put all of your efforts into something you aren't passionate about; therefore you can't be as successful. That being said, it helps to learn the books ...
ReplyDeleteMy name is Kristen and I'm an entrepreneur. I wasn't born that way. My only child, latch-key kid wonder years led to an overabundance of independence and ideas. So, here I am with you Laura. :) What am I going to do about it? Start a 12-step program (?) and rock on.
ReplyDeleteDream Big Dreams!
ReplyDelete@Bret--good luck!
ReplyDelete@Lady Rogue--we're in this together!
@Kristen--love the 12 step program.
@Lynn-you too!
My name is Lisa, and I'm an entrepreneur. I'm so glad I'm not alone! I'm so there with you, plus guilt over missing PTA meetings because meetings run late, and "Pizza AGAIN, Mom?" Where do I sign up for the 12-step?
ReplyDeleteA friend once told me: Being an entrepreneur is like flying a plane. At least if it's going to crash you'll be the first to know!
ReplyDeleteHang in there! That plane's on a long, long journey and there will definitely be some bumpy air along the way. It's worth it!
My name is Kathianne and I'm an entrepreneur. I've been intentionally neglecting my biz lately to focus on my personal wellness though, but I guess that is one bonus of having your own business.
